Is there anyway to trace an ip address from a e-mail account thats been cancelled? like yahoo or hotmail?

someone impersonated me with a similar e-mail address, all they did was change one letter, and they used this e-mail to send messages to people that seriously effected my life. they used a yahoo address to send them to a hotmail address (i dont know if that helps or not). but now when i look up the e-mail they used to impersonate me, it is no longer a valid yahoo account. so im wondering if there is anyway to trace an ip address from a yahoo account thats been canceled. i still have the e-mails from the fake account. please, any help would be so appreciated!
